Scientists from the Hellenic Ornithological Society together with the WWF Greece CYCLADES LIFE field team performed their annual spring expedition on Gyaros in order to monitor the population of Yelkouan Shearwater, a sea bird species threatened with extinction. The very important colony of Yelkouan Shearwater of Gyaros was discovered during the preparatory scientific work on the island, that took place for the purposes of the CYCLADES LIFE.
