What did 25 PhD students and young professionals who are involved in the management of the marine environment worldwide do in Syros?

From the 4th to the 10th of May 2016 the CYCLADES LIFE hosted and co- organized with WWF Mediterranean and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) the training forum entitled “Building the Next Generation of Leadership in Marine Conservation: a Learning Forum – Part II”. During this specialized workshop the trainees who are mainly involved in the management of Marine Protected Areas in the Mediterranean and around the world (Albania, Columbia, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Morocco, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey, and United Kingdom), were trained on issues such as collaborative leadership practices, facilitation of stakeholder discussions, management of environmental problems and communication. The WWF Greece team members had the opportunity to make a presentation of the project to the participants, to discuss its actions in detail and the challenges encountered during their implementation. Finally, as part of the training exercises the trainees visited Gyaros island and used the area as a case study in order to practice their skills in the field.
