On Monday the 20th of February, the CYCLADES LIFE WWF Greece team visited the professional fishermen of Andros (who are members of the Consortium of Stakeholders of Gyaros) in order to discuss the issues related to sustainable fisheries activities within the 3 n.m zone of Gyaros (currently no fishing activities are allowed in that zone). The following day, the team visited the island of Syros, whereby they met with all the local stakeholders who are members of the Consortium and continued the relevant discussions concerning both the terrestrial and the marine environment of Gyaros. The goal of the meetings were to inform the members of the Consortium on the Consortium Secretariat’s progress on the pending proposals from the 3rd meeting for the protection and sustainable development of the island of Gyaros, so that these will be discussed and concluded during the 4th meeting of the Consortium.
