On Saturday 9th of September, the CYCLADES LIFE WWF Greece field team together with a small team of volunteers cleaned one of the open beaches on the North of Gyaros. Monk Seals use open beaches to rest and nourish their pups and debris constitutes a threat for newborns. This particular beach had been cleaned in the past for the purposes of the program however it was full of garbage probably due to currents in the area that carry with them all sorts of debris that end up at shore. The team counted and registered all the garbage on special forms provided by LIFE Debag.
