By the end of June 2014 MOm completed the first “Annual conservation status report of the Mediterranean monk seal population at the island of Gyaros”. This document has been based on all data collected during the implementation of action D.3, but also on the overall results and data of all previous research and field work conducted by MOm at Gyaros since 2004. It thus constitutes a baseline study, which includes in detail and depth our knowledge of the local monk seal population in Gyaros island, but also its current conservation status. This report will be prepared and updated by MOm on an annual basis, and a final study will be formulated by the end of the project, as a complete and full analysis of all data acquired in the context of the CYCLADES LIFE, assessing the overall status of the species in this area for the future as well.
